EXHIBITION: Salon Art + Design Fair 2015: An art lover's dream

"This is an art lover's dream: imagine a showcase of design and
fine art from 1890 to the present, all in one place."

The annual Salon Art + Design Fair at New York's monumental Park Avenue Armory -- whose Main Hall is modeled after the grand train stations of 19th-century Europe -- showcases the creme de la creme of international modern design. Its current run ends on Monday, Nov. 16.

Liquid glacial table by Zaha Hadid, acrylic
Shown at David Gill's popular booth

This year, furniture and decorative items from 55 top galleries representing nine different countries are on view. Included in the show are works from the great cabinet makers of 18th- century France to English Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Mid Century Modern to today's hottest up-and-coming designers.

1902 chair by Kolomon Moser, one of my favorite designers
of the Weiner Werkstatte (Vienna Workshops)

Lindsey Adelman’s "Branching Bubble" chandeliers at the Nilufar Gallery

Chest Novogrov by French design team Garouste and Bonetti

Tapestry by Jean Arp at Galerie Zlotowski

Just for fun ... some of the pieces on display demonstrated
a lighthearted approach to design:

Wendell Castle's trompe l'oel
carved wooden table with "cloth"

And this crystal and glass "Jungle VIP" chandelier by Barnaby Barford
screams "Don't take my decor too seriously!"
